Kisii - Three students at Tabaka Mixed Secondary school in Kisii County were admitted in hospital after drinking hydrochloric acid over what they termed as unfair suspension.
The students were rushed to hospital by motorbike taxi operators who found them lying unconscious in an abandoned lane on Tuesday.
The Star reports that the three were suspended after they were caught with mobile phones, against the school rules.

“A teacher who found us with the gadgets told us to take our belongings and leave. He told us to clear school fees for the whole year and also pay electricity bill for the month before seeking readmission. We decided not to go home because the expenses were too high,” one of the victims told Citizen TV.
After leaving the school compound, the girls went to Kisii town where they bought the acid and imbibed it.
Doctors at the Nyamira County Referral Hospital, where they were admitted, say they are now out of danger.
