Nakuru - A man from Kikopey, Nakuru is being held at the Gilgil police station for setting on fire his pregnant wife.
“He had lit a fire in the living room but when I tried to get out, I caught fire. The door locked itself and fell down,” says tearful Njoki.
22-year-old Njoki Ndung’u was rescued from her burning house by neighbours who rushed her to the St Mary’s mission hospital where she is nursing burn wounds, NTV reports.
“He started by burning mattresses and when neighbours asked, he said he was burning bedbugs,” narrates a neighbor, adding that the two have had constant fights in the two years they have been living together.
Last week, a video posted on Facebook caused a stir after it showed a man dragging his pregnant wife into a house, beating her senseless and leaving her for the dead.

Some of the justifications given for beating include denying husband sex, burning food, neglecting children and arguing with husband.
