Nairobi - Kenya has launched an inquiry into an incident in which Police brutally attacked and beat up an unarmed protester during demonstrations over changes to the country's electoral body.
A video of the man being clobbered by Policemen went viral Tuesday prompting public outrage over the manner in which Police treated him.
The Daily Nation reported that Kenyan Police chief Joseph Boinett condemned the attacks and ordered an immediate probe into the circumstances of the beating by the Police officers.
Boinett stated that he was shocked by the video and called on Police officers to respect the law in their operations.

International media was not left behind in reporting the incident, led by The Independent which stated that the matter broke several of Kenya's Constitutional laws and was indicative of a nation which has had a poor record as regards human rights.
The incident took place on the sidelines of the latest of several protests by opposition activists who say their leader will be denied a fair chance at next year’s election if the current electoral body remains in place.
A video of the incident was captured by nearby journalists.
Citizen TV also reported on the incident as well as several other incidents that took place in the protest.
