Nairobi - 16 people have been arrested for allegedly stealing and stealing 200 mobile phones from DP William Ruto's office.
According to reports by police, they have reportedly tracked and arrested a number of said buyers who were in possession of some of the 200 iPhones stolen from the Deputy President’s Office.
According to sources, the suspects are held at the Industrial Area Remand Prison and were nabbed having bought the gadgets from the black market.
It has also emerged that 18 of the 200 stolen phones have been tracked and the suspects arrested.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that one of the stolen iPhones was tracked and found in the possession of a diplomat based in Nairobi.
The development comes as 3 suspects who were involved in the fraudulent deal are set to be arraigned in court on Wednesday, as NTV reports.
One of the suspects, Martin Mwangi Njeri, is a prison officer and driver attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr Mwangi will be charged jointly with two other suspects — Betty Wangui Nderitu and Felix Kipyegon Langat — with at least three different counts.
The lost iPhones were estimated to be worth KES 30 Million.
