Mombasa (Xinhua) -- Kenyan police on Tuesday retrieved body of a Dutchman who was brutally murdered and his body was hidden in a septic tank for almost five months in his residence in Nyali Mombasa.
The deceased, Jacobus Van Der Goes who also holds Kenyan passport was hacked to death and his body wrapped in mattress before it was stashed in septic tank just behind his house.
The weapons which were used to murder the foreigner were also recovered from the tank to conceal the evidence.
Mombasa County CID commander Pius Macharia said three prime suspects among them his gardener are in police custody over the gruesome murder that occurred on Jan. 5. The gardener had made several bank withdraws using the deceased credit cards from Equity Bank in Mombasa and Kericho branches that led to his arrest.
The two other suspects were arrested last week and motor-vehicle belonging to the deceased was also recovered within Mombasa.
"A gardener who was in this compound was arrested, and was found to have withdrawn money using the decease's credit card. Two other suspects were arrested on further interrogation they led us to this compound," said Macharia.
A team of homicide detectives from Nairobi and local detectives managed to retrieve the badly decomposed body from the septic. Macharia said the detectives will conduct DNA to establish his identity.
A brother-in-law of the deceased and a family doctor witnessed the process of pulling out the body from the tank. Goes is a retiree (pensioner) of Holland government and was staying with the gardener before he met his death.
Police believe the gardener orchestrated the murder to acquire the wealth including the palatial home, vehicle, cash and other valuables.
In the past foreigners have been died in mysterious circumstances in love triangle incidents with intension to repose their wealth.
