Street-child killed with bottle in Nairobi food fight

Nairobi - A street child died after he was hit with a broken bottle on the neck in a fight over food given by a passer-by.

The Star reported that the incident occurred Monday evening.

Nairobi police commander Japheth Koome said the boy died soon after he was attacked at Globe Cinema Roundabout area in Nairobi.

"The attacker has been arrested and will appear in court on Tuesday morning over the killing," he said.

The Daily Nation reported that the government in 2015 allocated a piece of land to street families in-order to get them off the streets.

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero said he was working with the national government to relocate the families and build for them a rehabilitation centre, a school and vocational training institution.
