Statement from NMG CEO, Joe Muganda about closure

Nairobi – The Nation Media Group (NMG) have scaled down its broadcasting services meaning that employees will be let off, which took effect on Thursday.
According to the Standard Media three media outlets are affected, QTV, Nation FM and Rwanda based, KFM.
Having operations in Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania NMG state the closure is in order to embrace digital as the business model in the 21st century.

The Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ) have written to the NMG condemning them for not following the law in declaring workers redundant as provided for under Section 40 of the Employment Act.
In a letter from KUJ lawyer, Henry Oduor he stated, "It is important to note that it is not the Employees who have become redundant but your institution.”
NMG CEO, Joe Muganda spoke to Daily Nation about the closure.
