Reprieve for teachers as TSC changes heart, working on pay
05 December 2015, 10:03
Nairobi - The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has had a change of heart and is now processing teachers salaries for September.
The Commission has been withholding KES 10.8 billion in salaries for teachers who participated in the September strike over pay rise.
About 250 000 teachers were affected by the salary delays, Standard reports.
Earlier this week, TSC moved to court to block the pay despite directives from the President, AG and Education Ministry to release the salaries.
On Friday, however, TSC said they have already applied for the funds and are waiting for Treasury to release them.
