Nairobi - In a bizarre incident, a Kenyan Pastor's body has been exhumed and replaced with that of a sheep.
Residents of Katituni village in Machakos County, 70 km east of the Kenyan capital Nairobi witnessed a rare spectacle after a body believed to be that of a pastor was exhumed and a sheep buried in his place.
The Standard reported that the body of Pastor Jonathan Mutisya Mwania of the Africa Brotherhood Church (ABC), was buried last week after succumbing to a short illness at Kathiani Level Four Hospital on August 10.
Trouble began three days later when the clergyman's family was informed that the body they had buried was of one John Kamusina Ndambuki and not the deceased, compelling them to dig up the body.
Elders claimed they had to perform a ritual that would drive away curses and protect the family from calamities. One of the elders slaughtered a sheep and deposited the body parts inside the grave.

According to Mr Mwania Muinde, father of the late pastor, they had to adhere to the Kamba traditions failure to which the family members would die every year, HiviSasa stated in another report.
Ms Nduku threatened to leave the homestead over what she termed barbaric and satanic culture.
Ms Nduku and the family are now making new arrangements for the burial of Pastor Mutisya whose body still lies at the Kathiani Level Four Hospital mortuary.
According to Kenyan law, exhumation of a body can only be done under a strict set of circumstances and rules including mistaken identity.
