Nairobi - The Migingo Island row will be resolved through diplomatic negotiations with the Uganda government, Defence CS Raychelle Omamo said.
In a report on The Star Omamo said the stand-off between Kenya and Uganda does not warrant a military approach as "Uganda is a friendly nation".
"This is a matter that can be dealt with through diplomatic channels, the Interior ministry and the joint border commissions," she said at the KICC on Tuesday.
"We have to say things we can verify and ensure your security otherwise it would boomerang on us."
In a report on The Standard, ODM criticised President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday for hosting Uganda President Yoweri Museveni to talks on an oil pipeline .
Party secretary for political affairs Opiyo Wandayi said Uhuru cannot purport to host Museveni without placing Migingo Island on the table for discussion.
"A President who cannot defend the territorial integrity of his country has no business remaining in office," Wandayi said.
