Ndubai sworn in as new NYS Director General

19 January 2016, 20:28

Nairobi - Richard Ndubai has been sworn in as the new National Youth Service NYS Director General.

The Daily Nation reports that Ndubai has been sworn in during a ceremony Tuesday at State House Mombasa which was attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ndubai takes over the controversy riddled NYS, left publicly disgraced following a series of corruption allegations against it.

Speaking on Tuesday when he witnessed Ndubai's swearing-in ceremony, President Kenyatta ordered the resumption of the service’s youth empowerment programme.

" My administration is keen to see this service reintroduce the core values it had and to once again re-engage young people in our country to ensure they are part and parcel of nation building," he is quoted as saying.

According to The Standard, Ndubai is well read and is not new to public service.

He holds a master's degree in public administration from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting from the University of Nairobi.

He is due to graduate with a PhD in performance contracting, measurement and public service delivery from the same university.

He has also formerly served as a Permanent Secretary in government.
