Nairobi County raids KBC over KES 2B debt

Nairobi - City Hall on Tuesday clamped properties belonging to Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) over non-payment of land rates amount to over KES 2 billion.

The Daily Nation reports that Nairobi County officials raided KBC main building on Harry Thuku Road and blocked the main entrance with a truck.

The officials turned up with trucks and dumped garbage at the main entrance for maximum effect.

They have also took over the management of parking outside the broadcasting house, inconveniencing staff and visitors to the state broadcaster, Capital News reported.

Officials said they also took over two other properties in Karen in a bid to recover the KES 2.06 billion unpaid land rates from the national broadcaster.

Head of Budget at City Hall Morris Okere is currently meeting with KBC management.
