Nairobi - Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko has paid three months rent for all the victims of the Huruma building collapse.

A total of 198 households lost their belongings when the six-storey building they had rented collapsed two weeks ago.

Sonko paid KES 15,000 for each household, spending close to KES 3 million on the cause.

The outspoken Nairobi Senator, who was in the company of the Nairobi women rep Rachel Shebesh alongside other government officials, also donated household goods, food and back-to-school shopping to the families.

In a Facebook post, Sonko also indicated that he had paid school fees for 120 school going children who were affected by the tragedy.

About 51 people have been confirmed dead following the building collapse.
