Mandera, Wajir hit highs of over 40 °C

22 March 2016, 14:41

Nairobi - The Meteorological Department has confirmed that temperatures have been soaring in various parts of the country, with Wajir and Mandera hitting highs of 40.5 °C and 40.6 °C respectively.

In a weather report for the last one week, the department dispelled fears that the country was experiencing a heat wave but advised members of the public to treat heat-related conditions accordingly.

The report also indicated that various parts of the country such as Kakamega and Kisii were experiencing rainfall, Citizen Digital reports.

In Mombasa, NTV reported that residents have resorted to the beaches as the heat has become unbearable.

Some of the effects of extremely high temperatures include: heat rash on the skin, heat cramps, swelling of legs and hands and fainting.
