Man sentenced to 200 years for killing his four children

02 March 2016, 10:01

Kisii - A 40-year-old man in Kisii County has been sentenced to 200 years in prison for killing his four children.

Lukas Misati allegedly committed the offence in 2012 following a feud with his wife.

His wife, Helen Kemunto had allegedly disagreed with his plans to move from their rental house, which prompted Misati to attack her.

She escaped with injuries and managed to get treatment at a nearby hospital but on returning home, she found the children missing.

It was later discovered that Misati had strangled the children, aged between 3 and 9, to death.

He went into hiding but police managed to arrest and open a case against him in 2013, Standard reports.

On Monday, Kisii resident judge Joseph Karanja found Misati guilty of four counts of murder and sentenced him to 50 years for each count.

Meanwhile, police in Eldoret arrested another man for poisoning his four children following a quarrel with his wife.

Musa Saka reportedly poisoned the children’s drink after his wife fled to her parent’s home following a quarrel. Two of them died and two are currently undergoing treatment.

He also attempted suicide but was rescued in good time to face the law.

Saka will be arraigned after police complete investigations into the matter.
