Kenyans mourn former first lady Lucy Kibaki

Nairobi - Kenyans are mourning the death of the former First Lady, Lucy Kibaki who died in London Tuesday morning.
Lucy had been flown to Bupa Cromwell Hospital on Saturday for treatment, where she met her untimely death.
While announcing her death, President Uhuru Kenyatta said: “Her Excellency will be remembered for her immense contribution in the development of our country. Especially notable was her Excellency’s virtues of leadership and commitment to improving the well being of the ordinary Kenyans.”
Other Kenyans and political leaders have also expressed their condolences to the Kibaki family.
Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Ambassador Amina Mohamed said: "Heartfelt condolences on the passing on of former First Lady Lucy Kibaki. We have lost, as a country, an astute defender of women rights."
Kiambu Governor, William Kabogo said: "Standing in prayer with Fmr. President H.E. Mwai Kibaki and his family in this these trying times. May H.E Mama Lucy Kibaki rest in peace."
FIDA Kenya said: "We join Kenyans in Mourning our former First Lady Mama Lucy Kibaki! You ran a good one Mum, You kept the faith. R.I.P!"
Murang'a COunty women rep, Hon. Sabina Chege said: "RIP HE Lucy Kibaki . A woman of substance who stood and fought for her family and the country at large."
Council of Governors' chair, Peter Munya said: "I am deeply saddened by the loss of H.E. Lucy Kibaki. I send my sincere condolences to the former president H.E. Mwai Kibaki and his family."
