Kenyan lawyers vote for new leaders in national polls

Nairobi - The Law Society of Kenya LSK is voting for new leadership in national elections Thursday.
The Daily Nation reports that the elections are being supervised by the Independent Electoral
and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and an estimated 7,154 lawyers are
expected to participate in the voting.
The seat of LSK president is being contested by, among others,
Nairobi lawyer Allen Gichuhi and two Kisumu-based lawyers, Mr Isaac
Okero and Mr Aggrey Mwamu.

They are looking to replace outgoing chairman
Other contested seats include those of
vice-president, governing council, disciplinary tribunal, council of the
Nairobi branch and a female representative to the Judicial Service
Capital News says that a total of 69 candidates are contesting for 26 positions which include
LSK President, LSK Vice-President, LSK Female Representative to JSC and
LSK Council Members.
