Kenyan international footballer dies suddenly

Nairobi - A Kenyan international footballer has died suddenly after a short illness.

Soka report that Harambee Starlets Under-17 midfielder Anastancia Mwathe famously known as Kalete has passed on after a short illness.

The midfielder it is understood passed on the morning of Wednesday 13 January after a short illness.

Accordong to the report, Kalete was part of her former school Olympic High School's team that made history by clinching their maiden Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association KSSSA girls’ national football title in 2013.

“Kalete was one of the best players at this school. Before finishing her O-level studies in 2013, she inspired the team to win the 2013 title in Embu and represented the country in Nigeria. She almost left for United States scholarship but a delay saw her hang around featuring in a few tournaments," Olympic High School coach Joseph Orao is quoted as saying.
