Kenya Power sues COFEK for defamation

19 April 2016, 14:57

Nairobi - Kenya Power and its Managing Director, Ben Chumo have sued the Consumer lobby group, COFEK for what it termed as defamation.

COFEK however rubbished the defamation claims and asked Kenya Power to address the pertinent issues raised that affect consumers.

The spat allegedly started last month after COFEK accused Kenya Power of corruption and poor governance.

The lobby also took issues with the appointment of Ben Chumo as the company MD.

Kenya Power in response gave COFEK three days to apologize, threatening them with suit.

Cofek refused to apologize.

The altercation which is trending on twitter under the hashtag #KenyaPowerSuesCofek has attracted many Kenyans who are showing solidarity with COFEK by highlighting their frustrations with Kenya Power.
