Tana River - Mzee Meza Galana, the man who composed the Kenya national anthem, died Thursday after suffering from pneumonia.
Galana was aged 95 when he passed on at the Hola District Hospital where he had been admitted since Monday.
The man had been living in abject poverty until Royal Media Services visited him in 2013 and helped set up a decent housing facility for him.
Kenyans on Twitter have sent their messages of condolences and thanked him for his role in bringing Kenyans together through the anthem.
