WATCH: Joshua arap Sang cries following acquittal by ICC

06 April 2016, 10:08

Nairobi - Former radio journalist, Joshua arap Sang cried after receiving news of his acquittal by the International Criminal Court (ICC) Tuesday.

Sang, who was accused of perpetrating the 2007/08 post election violence alongside Deputy President William Ruto was set free by the court that declared the case proceedings a “mistrial due to a troubling incidence of witness interference and intolerable political meddling.”

According to Citizen Digital, two out of the three Trial Chamber judges ruled in favour of Ruto and Sang.

Speaking at the Weston Hotel where he had joined friends and family to celebrate his freedom, Sang said: “The lies have gone, now I have my freedom. That is all that matters. Thank You God. Thank you Kenya. Thanks you President Uhuru Kenyatta.”

Sang, who has been unemployed for the last 6 years pending his trial, told Standard that he will continue with his former job, join politics as well as venture into full time farming.
