Irate husband stabs wife over threat of divorce

Homa Bay – A husband who murdered his wife after she threatened him with divorce has been sentenced to five years in prison.

According to Standard Media Fredrick Lugonze was charged for the murder of Florence Awino Abonyo after he stabbed her in the stomach and chest.

The day of her death the deceased had called her husband after leaving their marital home for work and not long after called her husband to tell him she wanted to end the relationship.

The irate Lugonze then went to her place of work to confront her over the matter.

It was there was there that Lugonze was thrown with a stone and return chased his wife and stabbed her.

Only being charged with manslaughter Lugonze told the court that, "I only wanted to have my wife back but I didn't plan to kill her.”

Florence death is the second passion crime this week.

On Wednesday a 22-year old Kenyatta University Student was killed by her boyfriend, an ex-military officer, Maxwell Ochieng after she tried to cut ties with him.

The student was stabbed to death near Nakumatt Supermarket after an argument with her 36-year odl ex-military lover, Maxell Ochieng.

The Star reported that Ochieng had called the deceased sister after the murder and told her to go fetch her sisters dead body.

He also said that he was not able to live without hurt and would not allow her to be with other men.

The deceased was yet to celebrate her graduation.
