Govt hospital burnt down following strike by nurses demanding better pay

Nanyuki - Sections of the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital in Laikipia County were set ablaze Sunday morning, just a week after nurses agreed to return to work after a week-long strike over pay.
The administration block and part of the laboratory are among the structures destroyed in the 5.30am fire, Daily Nation reports.
It is reported that the arsonists cut the electric fence to gain entry into the facility, after which they lit the fire and also destroyed CCTV cameras that could have provided crucial leads into the attack.
The razed facilities are located 50 minutes from the wards, but Standard reports that no casualties were reported.
Police have launched investigations into the matter.
