Government officials face punishment for skipping Madaraka Day celebration

Kericho - A senior official at Kericho County has threatened to take action against government officials who missed the Madaraka Day celebrations on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, Kericho County Commissioner Mukhtar Abdi said all government officials must attend such functions.
Daily Nation reports that only three out of nine County Executive Committee Members and four out of ten Chief Officers attended the event.

It was also the same case in Kisumu County where even the County boss, Jack Ranguma did not show up for the ceremony.
According to The Star, majority of government officials and residents boycotted the event, forcing the area County Commissioner John Elungata to read the President’s speech to an empty stadium.
