Garissa University College to be reopened
05 December 2015, 17:33
Nairobi - Garissa University College is set to be reopened soon, Deputy President William Ruto has said.
The institution has been closed since April, when a gang of armed terrorists raided the campus and killed over 140 people.
Deputy President says the Education CS, Fred Matiang’i will hold a meeting with Moi University Senate in two weeks time to deliberate on reopening procedure, Standard reports.
Moi University had absorbed the survivors of the April attack and pledged to pay their school fees, but the government says there is need to reopen the institution in order to help students achieve their goals.
The DP assured students of their security, saying the government is already putting up a police post in the campus.
