Engineer murdered as online car sale turns tragic

14 February 2016, 08:47

Nakuru - A 28-year-old engineer in Nakuru County was killed by men who posed as buyers of his car, which he had put up for sale on the internet.

Alex Mariera had travelled from Kirinyaga County to deliver the car to people who had offered to pay KES 950 000 for it.

He was killed during a test drive of the car, and his body stashed inside the boot of the family car which he was driving.

According to Standard, Mariera was working as a Roads engineer and was among the team that was working on the roadmap to de-congest urban areas.

This is not the first victim of online scam. Thieves have taken advantage of online buying and selling platforms, with OLX warning users to be aware of fraudsters on the platform.
