The report says that detectives targeted the homes of Wairia's friends and relatives in Nairobi and Kiambu to uncover corruption in the county.
Wairia had been accused of misusing money and failing to manage debt, with 34 out of 49 MCAs voting for his removal.
Capital News reported that the Governor’s supporters and area residents blocked the detectives from the premises and in the end went on to snatch vital documents that had been taken by the EACC for further investigation.
Wairia is accused of spending KES 247 million on advertising, against the Assembly’s recommendation of KES 7 million, leading to his impeachment last year.
