Court orders IEBC staff to testify in Sh105m fraud case

Nairobi - A Kenyan court has ordered six employees of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to testify in a Sh 105 million fraud case.
The six are said to have helped Ben Gethi, director of Solarmak Technologies Ltd to commit felony involving Sh 105 million tender.
Solarmak Technologies Ltd had submitted a bid of Sh 127 million for a tender to supply lanterns to be used in the 2013 general elections, while another firm, Konnexions Systems Ltd had submitted a bid of Sh 107 million.

However, Gethi’s bid was altered to read Sh 105 million hence giving him advantage over his rival.
According to Daily Nation, Gethi also forged his company registration and KRA tax compliance certificates.
Gethi is also facing another fraud case, where he is alleged to have stolen Sh791 million from the National Youth Service (NYS) alongside eight other people.
