Cop who was fired for visiting sick wife reinstated

Nairobi - Employment and Labour Relations Court ordered the National Police Service Commission to reinstate a General Service Unit officer who was fired for visiting his sick wife.
Charles Kinanga was allegedly sacked in 2004 after a disagreement over his decision to attend to his sick wife.
Standard reports that even thought Kinanga asked for permission from his immediate boss, he was still sacked.
His efforts to appeal the dismissal were futile.

While delivering the judgment, the judge said that his seniors abused employment laws as he also lost his child during the same period.
Police officers have been accusing their seniors of mistreatment.
Recently, KDF officers revealed that they are subjected to harsh terms despite working in hardship areas.
Speaking to Daily Nation, the soldiers have admitted that they are losing the war to Al Shabaab because of lack of goodwill from their bosses and the government.
