Commuters stranded as Kenya Railways suspends services without notice

Nairobi - Thousands of commuters in Nairobi were left stranded on Monday after Kenya Railways suspended train services without notice.
The affected routes are Ruiru, Syokimau, Imara Daima, Makadara, Kikuyu, Kibera and Embakasi areas.
The company cited technical hitches, which Standard reports affected cargo trains from other parts of the country.
This suspension comes a week after a train engine's brakes failed while on its way to Ruiru, forcing officers to chase after it.
The engine ran unmanned all the way to Kasarani, causing panic among residents.
