Busia - One person has died and seven others hospitalized following a cholera outbreak in Busia County.
The seven are admitted at an isolated ward in Port Victoria Level 4 Hospital to prevent further spread of the disease.
According to Standard, the affected people are from Bunyala north and west, Sigiri and Magombe east areas in Budalangi constituency.
The County health executive has said that the problem was caused by unsafe drinking water, noting that they are already working to contain the situation.
Early this week, a similar outbreak was reported in the neighbouring Siaya County, claiming at least five lives and leaving 50 others hospitalised.
Residents in the two counties have been urged to avoid open defecation and eating in public places such as funerals and roadside kiosks.
