Nairobi - Three senior Kenyan Olympic committee officials are the subjects of a criminal investigation relating to alleged theft and abuse of office during the Rio de Janeiro Games.
National Olympic Committee of Kenya vice chairman Pius Ochieng, secretary general Francis K. Paul and Kenya team leader Stephen Arap Soi were arrested last week on returning from Brazil.
Ochieng and Paul appeared in a Kenyan court on Monday and were granted bail. Soi, who was granted bail on Sunday, was also due to appear Monday but was absent, with his lawyers saying he was unwell and had been admitted to the hospital.
The three are accused of mismanagement at the Olympics involving the alleged theft of team equipment and giving out games accreditations to people who were not part of the delegation.
