BREAKING: Lucy Kibaki dead

Nairobi - Former FIrst Lady, Lucy Kibaki has passed on.

Lucy died Tuesday morning at Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London where she was undergoing treatment since Saturday.

The ailing Kibaki has been unwell for the last one month over an unknown ailment.

Recently, she was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital for treatment and spent a few days in the ICU section in what the family termed as routine medical checkup.

While announcing the death, President Uhuru Kenyatta said Lucy will be remembered for her virtuous leadership and role in the fight against HIV.

He said: “Her Excellency will be remembered for her immense contribution in the development of our country. Especially notable was her Excellency’s virtues of leadership and commitment to improving the well being of the ordinary Kenyans.”

He expressed his condolences and pledged to release details of further arrangements later.

May her soul rest in peace.
