Nairobi - Kenyans are now threatening to
boycott Nation Media Group (NMG) following the sacking of Managing Editor Special Projects, Dennis Galava over a critical editorial he wrote on the President.
Galava was allegedly suspended for writing a critical letter to the President without full consultation on January 2.
NMG Editorial Director, Tom Mshindi in a communique said: "We have asked Dennis Galava, the Managing Editor for Special Projects, to take some time off to allow us to review the circumstances of the writing and filing the editorial for Saturday Nation, January 2, 2016.”
However, in a rejoinder Thursday after continued social media ridicule, Mshindi tried his best to explain the situation.
"No editor was suspended for criticizing President Uhuru Kenyatta. If we punished our journalists for criticizing powerful people, you would never trust us the way you do. Indeed, even today, we continue to take critical but informed positions.”
