Boy with no name finally given an identity

30 March 2016, 12:03

Nairobi – An infant boy who was dumped in a bush at Moi’s Bridge in Uasin Gishu County in February 2014 has finally been given a name.

According to Standard Media Jeremy Lucky Kibet was rescued by two women who heard the abandoned child crying.

A bystander, Charlotte Chepkosgei took the responsibility of the infant after she heard a commotion at the nearby police station.

Despite seeking temporary custody with the help of her married aunt.

After much effort Chepkosgei and her family over the Easter Weekend made it official and held a special ceremony.

"Since we don't know his lineage, we called him Kibet – one who was born during the day – because that is when I found him," says Chepkosgei.

Chepkosgei is a well-respected pillar in society as she has been nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Uasin Gishu.

Meanwhile a 36- year old man a lab technician at Kijabe Hospital was arrested after attempting to help a 21-year-old woman procure an abortion.

Charles Kilonzi was arrested at the Mwingi Makuti Lodging in Kitui County following a tip-off from members of the public.

Both are set to be arraigned in court.
