Boda boda drivers protests after recent deaths of colleagues

Kwale – After the recent death of five boda boda drivers in three months a riot by other operators has commenced in Diani and Kinondo.

According to Citizen TV it is alleged that killer gangs are attacking drivers in the dead of night stealing their motorcycles.

Diani Assistant County Commissioner, Penina Mwaka reported that the attackers use guns and acid to kill the cyclists.

Chairman of boda boda operators in the area, Hassan Mwatenga slammed the police for not doing enough saying their investigations lead to nowhere.

However police commissioner said at times the boda boda drivers don’t report the crimes to the police.

The most affected areas are Congo, Kibundani, Mabokoni and Darad.

Meanwhile three men were shot dead after a botched robbery on Monday evening.

They had stolen Sh55 000 from businessman who had notified the police and intercepted the trio.
