Nairobi - An autopsy report has revealed that lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda and driver Joseph Muiruri went through a very painful death.
The autopsy that was conducted at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) Monday indicates that the lawyer was hit several times on the back of his head with a blunt object until he died, leaving him with a fracture on the head.
His client was strangled and then hit with a blunt object on the head until he died.
The driver was strangled and also hit with a blunt object, with the Standard adding that he had fractures in the head and experienced severe bleeding on the neck and chest.
The three went missing on June 23 after leaving Mavoko Law Courts where Mwenda was facing charges of possessing narcotics.
Their bodies were retrieved from Ol Donyo Sabuk river in Kilimambogo last week, leading to countrywide protests against extra-judicial killings.
According to human rights groups, Mwenda was incriminated by a police officer who had shot him in a bid to cover up his guilt.
Three officers who had been threatening him have already been arrested and are currently in remand.
