Mombasa - Over 400 squatters on Hussein Farm in Mombasa County have been left homeless after police officers demolished their dwellings and set their bedding on fire.
At least 200 structures were demolished and the squatters evicted amid tear gas and gun shots Thursday.
According to Daily Nation, 30 Administration police officers and prison wardens had been deployed to conduct the eviction, with the squatters complaining that they were neither given with eviction notice nor served with demolition order.

Land disputes are rampant in the country.
Last week, one man was shot dead in a dispute over the ownership of another farm in Nakuru County.
The man was shot dead by a medical doctor said to be the farm owner as he collected materials from his house that had been torched by unknown goons.
However, The Star reported that 20 suspects were arrested in connection with the arson but the fate of the killer doctor remains unknown.
