The former CS is charged with willful failure to comply with government financial regulations.
This is in relation to the design of the Kamukuywa-Kaptama-Kapsokwony-Sirisia road, which led to a massive embezzlement of funds by a phantom contractor.

The Star reported that the judge on the day was angered by what he described as Kamau trying to avoid appearing in court.
"Having looked at the documents tabled before me, I realise that the doctor who treated the accused is not the same person who signed the document."
He ordered Kamau to appear at the Milimani law courts on Thursday saying a warrant for his arrest will be issued if he fails to.
Kamau, who was suspended in March 2015 and replaced in November 2015, faces five charges of abuse of office and irregular use of public funds.
