Around 120 people arrested following nationwide crackdown

25 August 2016, 18:23

Nairobi – A 120 people were apprehended in various parts of Machakos County following a nationwide crackdown on criminal activity.

According to Standard Media the call came after a meeting with Governor Alfred Mutua on Friday.

Speaking to the media County Commissioner, Matilda Sakwa said they would not desist from ridding society of criminal activity.

Sakwa was particularly relating the crackdown after six guards in Mitaboni and Ngelani were killed.

“Security agencies have already arrested two men who are key suspects in the murder and are pursuing six more who have gone into hiding,” Sakwa said.

Kenya plans to step up enforcement of rules and regulations that govern the human resource profession in order to curb human trafficking.

The National Chairman of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM), Elijah Sitimah, said that bogus recruitment agencies were illegally exporting Kenyans for exploitation.

"We will ensure that all human resources firms are duly registered and adhere to a professional code of conduct," Sitimah said during the launch of the IHRM website.
