Airports are safe, KAA assures

Nairobi - The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has assured locals and visitors that all the airports and airstrips are safe.
KAA acting Managing Director Yatich Kangugo said there were no security threats at airports, adding that the memo to all managers was just a precautionary measure that was released before verification by the National Security Aviation Committee and other security organs.
“We therefore wish to assure our citizens and all airport users that KAA airports and designated airstrips are not under any imminent threat. I want to report that normal operations are ongoing,” he assured.

Kangugo observed that the State agency raised the level of operational threat category to high alert in conjunction with all other national with security organs that have increased vigilance to counter any potential threats.
He said KAA is also aware of terror threats by illegal groups such the Al Shabab.
Mr Kangugo however advised Kenyans to stay alert and report any suspicious incidents. “The public is urged to maintain constant vigilance and inform law enforcement agencies of any information on suspicious activities as they go about their daily lives,” he cautioned public.
