Women to show Resistance in Nairobi

06 March 2014, 20:15

Nairobi - One of the most prominent exhibitions will be held in the country towards the end of the year.

Organizers of the Women in Resistance display confirmed the event will be held in Nairobi from November 15 to December 15.

It will be the last leg of the exhibition following earlier showing in other cities in East Africa.

Among other cities are Bujumbura (Burundi), Arusha (Tanzania) and Kampala (Uganda). It has previously been held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where it was presented at the Alliance Française, the first step of its journey in East Africa.

Women in Resistance bring togethers photographs taken by Pierre-Yves Ginet during the last 15 years.

It shows women’s struggles all over the world for equality, justice, democracy, dignity and survival.

The goal of this exhibition is to increase the visibility of these women and their fights which remain largely unknown due to the lack of media coverage.

Portraits of Tanzanian women by photographer Sameer Kermalli have been added to the exhibition for this year.
