Nairobi - It has emerged that one of the Westgate Mall attackers once lived in a refugee camp in northern Kenya.
Security officials said that Mohammed Abdinur Said who was one of the Westgate attackers, once lived in the Kakuma refugee camp. The officials insisted on anonymity to share information not yet made public.
Raouf Mazou, UNHCR's boss in Kenya, said Monday that the body has been cooperating with the Kenyan government on the Westgate investigation but that he wasn't familiar with the name Said.
The information comes as a new agreement was signed Sunday to encourage the nearly half million Somalis inside refugee camps in Kenya to return home.
Mutea Iringo the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government said insecurity is one reason Kenya wants the refugees to return to Somalia.
