Unions cry foul over teachers' recruitment

Nairobi - Teachers' unions cried foul over the ongoing countrywide recruitment of at least 10 000 primary and secondary school teachers that got underway yesterday and threatened to challenge the process in court.
The Standard reports that there may be a clash as the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) could not come to an agreement with the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers ( Kuppet) and the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut).
Kuppet secretary-general Akelo Misori said he was surprised when he called TSC boss Gabriel Lengoiboni to enquire about the exercise only to find out the union had been excluded from the recruitment process.
