Nairobi - As the country marks 35 years since the death of the founding father of the nation, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta on Thursday, his son President Uhuru Kenyatta will not be in the country, Capital News reports.
For year the ceremony has been presided over by a sitting president, but on Thursday Deputy President William Ruto will lead the nation in commemorating the occasion by laying a wreath at the mausoleum of the late President at Parliament Buildings, before proceeding for the mass at Holy Family Minor Basilica.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is away on an official tour to China.
