Uhuru tells ICC to reschedule trial dates
09 September 2013, 08:21
Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta has rejected the International Criminal Court’s move to have his trial and that of Deputy President William Ruto held simultaneously.
The President warned that they could withdraw their cooperation with the court if it does not reschedule their trials and set them at different times to enable them to carry out the mandate given to them by Kenyans as President and Deputy President, The Standard reports.
This comes after it emerged that both President Kenyatta and Ruto will be at The Hague between November 11 and December 13, and therefore would not be in the country to lead Kenya in celebrations to mark 50 years of independence.
