Uhuru names Ole Kaparo NCIC boss

Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta has named Francis Ole Kaparo the chairman of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission NCIC.
The appointment was made Thursday by the president with the former speaker of the National Assembly taking the position.
Kaparo failed in an attempt to become Speaker of the current parliament, with the Jubilee coalition instead choosing to go with Justin Muturi last year.

The NCIC role is important and especially at this time of tribal divisions and fractured political climate.
Kaparo's appointment will likely further draw criticism from the opposition as well as members of the civil society over the age of the appointee, with the president also coming under fire in recent weeks over diplomatic appointments.
To this point, he has been chairman of the United Republican Party URP.
