Uhuru in South Africa for Mandela send off

Nairobi - Uhuru arrived in Johannesburg Monday evening where he will join over 100 world leaders in celebrating the life of the world renowned icon.

The Kenyan president arrived late Monday accompanied by first lady Margaret Kenyatta as confirmed by the presidential press service.

" He was a great man, a man of absolute dignity and perseverance and we are honoured to be here to send him off, the president told local press on arrival.

The memorial ceremony will be held at the FNB Stadium in the mother city, venue of Mandela's last official public citing during the FIFA World Cup final in 2010.

Former US presidents Barrack Obama and George W Bush are also expected to attend the ceremony.
