Uhuru: I will travel to the Hague

Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta will attend the status conference at the International Criminal Court, he has announced.
The president in his parliamentary speech Monday, said that his reason for heading to the ICC is to ensure that he does not place Kenyans in the line of fire over his personal charges.
" I will not attempt to put the sovereignty of Kenyans at stake and take the extraordinary step of attending the status conference, he said.
He also confirmed that deputy president William Ruto will be acting president in his absence.
The status conference will take place October 8, 2014 at the Hague.
