Uganda outrage at Kenyan gay, lesbian protest

11 February 2014, 15:38

Kampala - A section of Christians in Uganda have criticized the protest by Kenyan gays and lesbians seeking the legalizing of such marriages.

On Monday, a group of Kenyan gays and lesbians took to the streets of Nairobi leading to the Ugandan embassy where they protested against what they termed "draconian" piece of legislation to humanity.

Kenya's National Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission executive Director, Eric Gitari organised the protests.

Ugandans however accused some Kenyans of being "stooges" and "puppets" of the Western seeking to destroy Africa’s morale fibre while hiding under the guise of democracy and rule of law.

“I don’t really know what has befallen over Kenyan brothers and sisters! What I find funny about them (Kenyans) is they seem to embrace anything that comes from the West, whether it is poisonous or anti-African. They just want to be called good boys and good girls of Africa. To them what matters most are free goodies being given to them in the form of donations while diverging from the creator Jehovah God's purpose of a proper marriage involving man with a woman. Kenya, please return to innocence, otherwise these barbaric behaviour you call human rights will lead you astray,” said George Okwi, a Christian with Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM).

He added, “I tell you, Kenyans are increasingly becoming a liability for Africa! Kenyans have lost their fibre morale and I pray that Jehovah God descends heavily upon them like He did to the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.”

Miriam Onyango, who accused Kenya and South Africa of being trying to be "super Africans" at the expense of "true" African values and morals, echoed Okwi’s sentiments.

“Firstly, Kenyans follow things blindly. Secondly, if they are so desperate to have Ugandan gays and lesbians, they must come and collect them, otherwise here we would not condone a situation where a man marries a man while we have so plenty single women, ladies and girls ready for marriage. Pigs and dogs know their partners, but men and women from Kenya don't know who should be their attractive sexual partners. Due to their blindness, today they are now trying to impose their foreign borrowed stupid ideas. We reject that,” she said.

Shadreck Mugabe urged Kenyans to 'keep their weak morals' to themselves arguing that each country in the world had its own rules and laws.

“Kenyans support anything said by white people. Yesterday they supported International Criminal Court when it created falsehoods against their President Uhuru Kenyatta, and they applauded while the likes of Tony Blair and George Bush, who killed millions in Iraq, are still walking free. I used to have respect for our brothers and sisters in Kenya, but they are damn fools. I wish if Africa could have three more leaders of the calibre of Robert Mugabe - one in North Africa, one West Africa and one East Africa, otherwise we can have a better and truly independent Africa,” Mugabe said.

He called upon Ugandans to join hands with “forward looking and God fearing people” of the continent, who did not embrace "filthy and corrupted ideologies" of gays and lesbians.
